The Importance of Being Earnest
A comedy written by Oscar Wilde
Directed by Elizabeth Wyatt
ACT-CO Theas:
Best Set Design ~ Comedy
What's in a name? Rather a lot, actually, as being "Ernest" becomes of vital importance to two young Victorian bucks entangled in the art of wooing. Wilde's legendary wit sparkles like diamonds, his characters charm, the frivolity of it all delights.

Sometimes one's longest journey takes place without taking a step. This is the tale of one man's travels down life's highway - with all its bumps and pot holes, curves, straights and ups and downs - without leaving his favourite park bench. Here Walter Price nurses his grievance at suddenly finding himself jobless after twenty years' loyal service. And here he is confronted by three oddball characters who hilariously help him regain his perspective and point him on the way to personal reassessment and reconnection with the world as it is.

This is a rolling murder mystery/comedy/musical. A New York restaurant owner on the run from the mob arrives in the last place on earth he thinks they might find him - the Last Resort Hotel in rural Saskatchewan. He is sure a hit man has tracked him down, but which of our characters is it? Is it one of the identical twin sisters? The police inspector? The older couple on their second honeymoon? The strange hotel proprietress? Or the agent assigned to protect him and play his wife? Before you can say 'whodunit', there are complications, and of course, music...
